Today I received a care package with a love letter from someone who has moved on… in less time than it took the postal service to deliver his package to me.  In an effort to turn a sad event into a much more positive one, I have been using the last week to reorganize a romantic dream trip into an exciting solo adventure, thanks to a lot of encouragement from my family and friends.
With a little more than a week left in my current state of Groundhog Day (aka Afghanistan), I now have more flights booked at one time then ever before.  In the next month, I will be in five countries, although sadly some of those may just be the airports.  I’m very excited about yesterday’s purchase of a new Wayfarer pack from Mountain Equipment Co-Op.  I am usually a horrible over-packer, but hopefully my stint in the desert has converted me into a bit more of a minimalist.
With limited days left here in Afghanistan, I am dreaming of a bright future filled with much happiness and adventure.  Stay tuned.

      • I will! I like that you can find the positives in your situation, whether that’s with love, or being in Afghanistan. With an attitude like that, you won’t go far wrong!
